The Dystopia Index is a static site. It collects as little as possible. This page says what that means.

The email list

If you enter your email address in one of our signup boxes, we use it for one thing: to send you the occasional newsletter described next to the box. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and using it removes you for good. This is the CAN-SPAM standard, and we hold to it.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have the right to see what we hold about you, to correct it, and to have it deleted. Since the only thing we hold is an email address you gave us, deletion is simple: click unsubscribe, or write to us and ask.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see aggregate traffic: which pages get read, roughly where visitors come from, and whether the site works on the devices people actually use. It does not know your name or email unless you separately give us your email through the signup box above. We run no advertising scripts and no ad-retargeting pixels.

Outbound links

When you click a bookseller or library link, you leave this site and land on theirs. Once there, their privacy policy applies, not ours. See our affiliate disclosure for which links are which.
